Key Insulation introduces NEW platform!

Key Insulation introduces new platform that puts more focus on “What’s In Your Walls™.” This new focus will inspire everything we do moving forward, from advertising and marketing to how we interact with builders and on social media.

We are working harder than ever to evolve with our customers. We are pleased to announce that we will be revealing our newly design website mid-March. Key is moving to a philosophy of educating our builders on our products features and benefits.

Our new website, aside from being aesthetically pleasing, will be more agile, interactive, and easier to scan, read and navigate, enabling users to find what they need quickly.
One of our main goals we wanted to achieve when designing the new site was to help our audience get to know us better and get a feel for who we are as a company.
The new design will responsive, which means that you’ll see essentially the same design optimized for your smart phone, tablet and desktop.

Kristi Fry-Jewett is our newest remote employee in Phoenix!

Kristi’s husband, Scott Jewett, accepted a new job in Phoenix early last month, taking Kristi and her two puppies to a new state.

Although we will greatly miss her bright smile and her Friday devotional breakfast food, we are grateful to be able to keep her remotely.

Kristi has been with us for over a year and has been such an asset to our company.

It’s Rodeo Time!
Two of our very own Key Family members participated in the Mutton Bustin’ event at the San Antonio Rodeo this year! Raul Roman’s little buckaroos, Matthew Easton Roman (age 4) & Joshua Tyler Roman (age 6) “cowboy’ed up” and held on for a thrilling ride under the big lights of the AT&T Center. The audience went wild as Joshua held on for the FULL SIX EXCITING SECONDS!

Congratulations to these brave participants and to the Roman Family!

Champion Team Roper

As most know, Amy Hatley (part of our lovely accounting department) and her family are huge with the rodeo scene. Back in October one of her daughter’s, age 16, was crowned Miss Guadalupe County Rodeo Princess and now they have a champion team roper!

Cutler (age 13), pictured in the middle, has concentrated all his efforts the past year to achieve this prestigious goal, including late night practices and extra hours of studying to also excel in school. Amy Hatley said, “We has done it!” All proceeds from the Benefit Roping Cutler participated in will benefit the Children’s Hospital. The Hatley’s are proud parents, as the overall event collectively donated almost a million dollars. Way to go Cutler!

We couldn’t be happier to announce that JJ Griffin is back at Key Insulation!

JJ started out on the Builders Energy Rater side providing certifications for new homes and has now worked his way into Estimating. We have been grateful to have him as part of our team for the past five years and know he will continue to be a great asset to our company!

We also are ENTHUSIASTIC to announce Little Sunnie Breann Griffin came into the world on January 8th.

JJ is a proud dad and said his baby girl, Sunnie, is perfect in every way imaginable, and his family could not be more blessed with her arrival. The pediatrician even quoted “She came in as an Over Achiever”. Congratulations JJ on your new position and on your new baby born!

On February 28th, some of our OPS staff took a first aid training program to receive their MEDIC First Aid BasicPlus certification. This certification is a combined adult CPR, AED, and first aid training program designed specifically for the occupational first aid provider. The program trained employees on how to respond and care for medical emergencies at work, and allowed them to meet their OSHA and other federal and state regulatory requirements

Congratulations to the following employees on successfully completing the program:
Abraham Nevarez
Elias Klar
Carl Allen
Cory Nickodam
Miguel Tapia
Colton Real
Raul Roman
Antonio Medina
Barry Hanson
Fausto Chalate
Armando Mena
Alex Moreno
John Maciel

Talking about first aid… What the doctor called a minor hand “procedure”, left Ross rocking a cast on one hand and a bandage on the other. Although Ross was left with no hands to change into his Key uniform, he managed to represent KEY everywhere he goes. Ross, with our employee’s artistic abilities, placed our key log on his cast, giving our uniform policy a whole new meaning.

Builders Energy Rater NEWS

Daniel Carpenter, BER’s General Manager, attended the 2015 RESNET Building Performance Conference on February 16-18 in San Diego, CA. This conference is the premier national forum on home energy ratings, existing home retrofits, building codes and energy policy.

The RESNET Conference was very informative, with many presentations from Builders, Contractors, Raters, Utility Companies and Government officials presenting on a multitude of topics ranging from new rating programs to proper sized HVAC units. There were nearly 100 different classes offered during the entire conference, so choosing the right class for each time slot took hours of preparation.

Along with the plethora of information that will help BER in the immediate future and help us move beyond, it also provided the opportunity to see what our direct and indirect competition was doing and what type of hurdles that everyone was seeing in the industry and the timeline that RESNET had in addressing the issues. It also happened to be in San Diego, and it was sunny and 70° pretty much the entire time which made attending classes VERY difficult.

The classes that BER attended included:

  • Information on ways to improve on our Ce3 Guarantee, including stats on homeowner feedback for this type of program.
  • Most common issues for Rating QA Failures and how to make sure that we aren’t shorting our builder HERS Points.
  • Insight from major national builders on how Raters are perceived and what they are looking for with energy efficiency.
  • Information on the new Rater Simulation test and requirements. • Information on duct design and issues with installation

Chesmar Homes Setting a Higher Standard

Each year Home Builders Association of Greater Austin members join together to build a house for charity. Builders, developers and vendors come onboard committed to helping those less fortunate. Since 1991, the Benefit Home project has donated more than $1 million to local charities.

This year’s beneficiaries charities in the South Central Texas region will be Ronald McDonald Charities and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Our partner Chesmar Homes Austin has been asked to build the 2015 HBA benefit house, which will be located in the Rancho Sienna subdivision.

Ronald McDonald Charities and Dell’s Children Center are great organizations that could benefit greatly from our help. Key Insulation has decided to jump onboard and contribute to this wonderful cause. We encourage your organization to become a sponsor and contribute in anyway it can!
